A seed in the rich dark earth
A caterpillar in its tiny cocoon
A baby in the serene womb of its mother
Each one hidden
Each one waiting
Each one changing and growing unseen by human eyes
The timing must be perfect
The timing cannot be rushed
The timing takes time
Before you know it a tree has grown
Before you know it a butterfly has emerged
Before you know it a baby has been born
All start in a secret place
All begin in a hidden season
All mature and form where only their Wise Creator sees
Every stage is important
Every step cannot be circumvented
Every process must be fully finished
This is the wonderful and mysterious way God has chosen to fashion new life,
In these hidden seasons
And so it is with our lives
We too have hidden seasons,
Hidden seasons of the soul
Seasons that may seem dark, like a seed in the earth
Seasons that may seem confining, like a caterpillar in a cocoon
Seasons that may appear as if there is no progress from the outside
Yet progress is happening
Happening under the watchful, loving eye of our Father
Happening through the molding and shaping of His gentle, strong hands
And these seasons cannot be hurried
These seasons cannot be hastened
To do so would cause certain harm
Therefore when we find ourselves in a hidden season
Let us remember Who sees, Who fashions, Who completes
And call to mind the beautiful things He creates in the hidden seasons
